20b Install In The Tfh
#1
The Haves:
The Engine: 20B Serial # D659, No compression Rear Rotor (Remember this!!!)
The Chassis: 87 TII, black on Grey, 120,000 miles.
The Have-nots:
ECU: Microtech LTX-12 or Haltech E-11 (If they ever get off their ***!)
Cooling: V-Mounts, custom by Griffin
Mounts:See Plan
Turbo: Undecided
Manifold: Undecided
Clutch: It's sooooo nice having a Major Clutch Manufacturer up the road!!! , you'll see
The start of the metamorphisis:
1. Strip 20B down to KEG
2. Mount Transission
3. Gut the TII
4. Start mock-up.
More to come, I plan on starting a Web-log..

The Current Dilemma:
Mounting Location of the 20B:
A. Use Stock location with K2RD or FC3S.org mounts
Pros: Easy/inexpensive
Cons: 1. Must re-engineer Sway bar
2. Cooling/Intercooler Mounting Room is Dimensished/compromised
3. Changes in Balance of car must be accounted for
B. Move engine Back ~ 160mm
PROS: 1. Maintain Balance of Car
2. More Room for Cooling/Intercooler
CONS: 1. Requires Firewall Move/Re-engineering
2. Engine Mounts must be designed/built
3. Possibility of shittey access to rear rotor

i looked at my car and the reason i cant move my motor back is because the oil pan goes around the steering rack. i wonder if building/modifying the subframe would work better? if you wanna blog here i can sticky this, and you can thread race jeff

I have plenty of X-members to hack-n-weld, I'll examine the possibilities!
I have an idea brewing, time for the Sketchpad!!!

oh so i had an idea last night for what to do. put a 1st gen front cover on the 20b, and use the 1st gen style front mounts to put the front cover near where stock is. then you can build something where you would find that undercar strut bar to support the stock 20b mounts?

if that makes sense its the way to move it back without huge custom work.
