I guess I should just convince myself that it'll need to be welded back together by a professional. That would ease my mind. Just gotta convince myself...
just say "i'm a professional" out loud whenever you do something, after a while you'll believe it

Haha, I'll start doing that!

Yep, I should have my piston car sold this week. Then I'll be able to order the carb and flywheel and every other little thing. Maybe even a welder.

I think I'll get a Lincoln 100 or whatever the cheapest one is called. It'll just be for sheet metal and exhaust. The 100 is what a local rotary shop uses to do their exhaust work. It should probably be big enough (I hope).

Jeff. I would purchase either a Hobart Handler 135 or 175. The lincoln 100 is very limited

Thanks for the advice on welders. I'll look into them before I decide to get one.

I did more cutting and hammering yesterday. The bellhousing is over 50% able to fit now. Just the starter and clutch fork are still a little cramped. I'll try to get it in all the way today.

I think I may have to trim it like you said. I even need to trim the oil pan for the MG. The rolled over edge cuts into the frame rails a little. That is, the pan on my REPU engine does. It has those cover things that hold the pan onto the gasket. I guess Mazda deleted them and went with a flat gasket surface on later pans. Anyway, I've got a newer 13B pan with a flat gasket surface that should give me enough clearance. The bolt heads will be closer to the engine soI'll be able to use shorter bolts, and I'll probably trim the rolled over edge right on the rear corners to be on the safe side. Hopefully the 13B pan on the 20B won't need trimming.

I'm selling my piston car tomorrow. After that, I'll be rotary only. Hurray!

It's a baja, so at least it's cooler than a honda.
