Simple questions, need answers.
#1
OK so since I swapped to the later electronic ignition, my tach nor my voltmeter are working. I know why, and it's because I disconnected the tach in the engine bay.
Anyway, I want to hard-wire my tach to work again, so my question is: I just connect the tach to the (-) on either coil, right?
Now will this fix my volt-meter problem too? I don't even know if my battery is charging, since I used the old wire for the alt from the original harness, but pretty much that is the ONLY wire I used from the original harness. I read the '80 uses a seperate regulator, somewhere on the firewall. So question #2 is this: I want to hard wire my alt so I KNOW it's working, and get an aftermarket voltage gauge. So I just run a fat #4 wire from the alt to a regulator to the battery, correct?
Thank you.

I forgot to mention I am using my own wiring for the engine / ignition. For some reason I couldn't get my stock wiring to work with the electronic ignition. So my ignition is hard-wired in, and my ignition switch was bad (so bad it felt like turning a key in a bowl of soup) so I am using an el-cheapo aftermarket one. The ONLY wire I am using from the stock harness (engine-related) is the Alt. wire.
