Newly Purchased Car Wont Start
#11
Okay, cool. Lots of more stuff to try. So, about the rust, if there's rust in the gas tank, do I have to get a new (or used but clean) tank? Oh, and how do I dispose of rotten gasoline?
And about tuning the carb.... that's where the hard part comes in. This is the first time I've ever had to work on a carbed car, and I really don't know anything about them, so I have no idea what floats are...
Hopefully my Haynes manual that I ordered will come soon, 'cause that'll probably help me with tuning the carb and such. Thanks for the suggestions.

I found the full service manual was helpful to have laying around too:
85 service manual
I just had my 84's carb rebuilt but the guy I origionally had rebuild it wanted 300bux. I offered to build him a new computer so he said forget about the cash and work on the computer. Now I plan on having Yaw Power Products rebuild it yet again (but much better).
Dont take this the wrong way, but get on the 1st gen sites topic(also found at the top of 1st gen specific's forum) and start clicking and reading. I'm far from done with all the links, but I'm learning SO f'ing much!
Cheers!

Getting rid of rotten gas is easy. Pour it onto the road and light a match. OR -> I'm not sure what the weather is like where you are, but gas evaporates really quickly, so by the time you've come back with matches, it will already be gone.
Follow the links, read your Hayes manual, d/l and read the Mitchell manual, you'll be a whizz in no-time.
edit: (sp? yes I'm aware of the spell check button )
