Need mechanic in Southern California...we got smoke!
UGH! My 1982 RX7 started puffing, no, wait, POURING white smoke today. No warning, just an embarrassing cloud. Oil pressure OK, temp OK, oil levels OK, engine running fine. It's the 12A, carburated. I took it to my regular car mechanic and he checked the transmission fluid, (yes, it's an AT) and it was low. He says he thinks the modulator is sucking tranny fluid and cycling it through the engine, causing the smoke. Or its seals, in which case he cannot fix it. I am a chick, not a do-it-yourselfer, I need a great rotary mechanic in my area. San Diego, Hemet, Temecula, Riverside, San Bernardino, Escondido, San Marcos areas. Help!

I had an automatic that did the same thing, its the valve on the transmission.. when it goes bad, it sucks the tranny fluid into the engine, causing it to smoke. there is a vacuum line that travels from the transmission to the intake manifold.. you can pinch the line to verify that its the valve on the transmission, it will take about 20 minutes for the smoke to go away
