A friend of mine told me that the gearbox from a miata would slide right in a 1st gen tranny. If this is true, would'nt that provide a tighter low end?
The gearbox of the Miata is an modified gearbox from an 1Gen Model. The gears are different and the way is shorter

OK. The gearbox is an modified Typ M, which sits in an Nonturbo-Rx7.
1st and 2Gen. The Gearshiftway is only 45mm, that means 10mm less than by an Rx7.
This Information is from Mazda Japan direct.
You can ask to a guy by Mazda called Toshiharu Shinmoto, who is the Builder of
this Gearbox.
