Thumbs down

I just swaped a S5 13BT into my FB, But I cant seem to get any spark..? I am just focusing on the leading coil pack right now because, it is much simpler then getting into the trailing system...

The wiring for the coil seems pretty strait forward. the coil has 3 wires coming from it, a tan wire a pink wire and a black wire.. I am just taking a guess but I think the tan wire is +12VDC. The pink wire is the signal wire from the ECU, and the black wire goes to a condenser..?????

So I hooked up 1H (The green/yellow wire) from the ECU to the pink wire on the leading coil, Then I hooked up the tan wire on the coil to +12VDC.

Do I have the coil hooked up wrong..??? Could it be something as simple as the clutch switch not being hooked up???? Could my ECU be fried or maybe hooked up wrong.. Or missing a ground or something.???????

If this was a 12A there would be no problem, But I dont have a clue once there is a ECU and a crank angle sensor involved....

I have to be missing something here..!!!! Any help from you guys would be great!!!!

Thanks in advance for any help.............

im no jenius but i belive all the wires go back to the ecu. There will be a positive and negative the positive will always be hot the the negative is triggered by the ecu. Just to give you a quick run down on a ignition this might help. In the ecu there are grounding drivers this is what the negative side is hooked up too to trigger the coil the ecu OPENS the grounding driver. This couses the magnetic filds that are built up in the coil to collapse and inducing a voltage on the secondary windings in the coil producing the spark. Not sure why there is a third i can look it up for u. All a coil needs is two wires really. lol Hope this helps some

im looking at a wiring diagram at it looks like you got the wrong coil hookied up. It show lead as a two wire coil and trailing as a three wire hook up. http://www.cochran-racing.com/FSM/s5/S5wiring.pdf this is where im looking at the diagram look on page 30 mybe this will help

yeah leading coil is 2 wires. theres a black and yellow switched power, and the other (green?) is signal from the ecu

trailing is similar, same blk/yellow power wire, and then there is the 'trigger' wire (T1) and the 'toggle' (T2). the fc is a little weird, the 'trigger' signal fires every time there is a spark event, and it uses the 'toggle' to switch between the two coils. so when T1 fires, just the trigger is on. when T2 fires both the trigger and the toggle are on.

there is also an output on the trailing for the tachometer.

Yeah the wiring diagram show only two wires going to the leading coil but my coil has three . I found out the black wire is for test reasons. but the only other wires coming out of the Leading coil are tan and pink... I know the coil has power, It's just not getting signal from the ECU... I just can not find out why the ecu is not putting out a signal...

I'm going to have to test all the wires with a multimeter....

mazda's diagram is from the coil PACK. coil PACK is the coil and ignitor. the tan and pink are the wires from the ignitor to the coil.

the diagram is the power and trigger INTO the assembly

there is no signal coming from the ecu. The ecu grounds and ungrounds the coil to produce a spark. Look at the ECU diagram and find wich wires are the coil grounding circuits then find the on for the trailing and the leading and blammo you should get it to spark unless there is something else wrong such as fried ecu wrong signal inputs or no power. As a tip look at it simply am i getting power and am i getting ground. You got power now look at youre ground..

u sure the ecu is fried?? Theres many things that can make it look like its fried and if it is it could just be simple component that is bad. if u need trouble shooting tips just ask me. Im a Electronics Tech in the coast guard so i can try to help u
