whats involved not including the obvious stuff? whats the cost, difficulty and equipment needed?

You need the front cover from the GSL-SE and the oil pan.



The swap is as expensive as you want it to be. At a minimum you will need the engine/trans/intercooler/ignition/harness and a new driveshaft.

haha thanks for posting for me shane.



ok heres the deal guys, i will soon have about 3500 bucks to put into my 84 gsl-se, im thinking t2 swqap, with 3500 for engine, ic and tranny and ecu, maybe trammell and i can swap it ourselves.



we are just in need of a good write up and some diagrams.

Well, I HAD a good writeup! I'm not sure how to wire the stock ECU though, pretty much all of us went aftermarket.

stock ecu is a lot harder to wire up than an after market, its not a plug in deal

so what do you reccomend for an ecu? keep in mind i will only have about 3500 to spend on the WHOLE project

used e6k? i personally would wire up a stock ecu or maybe a power fc

If you have plans to do more when you have more funds, I would just go ahead and get an aftermarket ECU.

Keep it simple man! I put an 87 turbo motor in mine. I used the gsl-se intake manifolds so I didn't have to switch the ecu or harness. I'm still running the stock gsl-se computer and harness. I used a turbo II tranny and had a driveshaft made. I added 2 fuel injectors controlled be a Haltech F5 additional injector controller. I had an exhaust manifold made for $125 and am running a garret t-3. The whole process was very simple and very cheap! You could easilly do it for $3500 and still have some left over. Then its off to the track!!

Take my word for it, wiring the stock ECU is incredably hard.



BUT! As luck would have it, I have a COMPLETE Write up on how to wire an S4 Turbo II motor into a 1984 GSL-SE.



I tried to adapt it to put a stock S4 ECU into my SA22C, but I didnt fare so well, lack of equipment.
