I desperately need a gas tank for a 1st. gen. RX-7. Have they ever become available again? I'm not above installing a fuel cell, but would I need to modify the back end of the car to use one?? All the ones I've ever seen are dropped in, not strapped up. Anybody done this that can post pictures of the work involved? My tank is so plugged that it blew the line off the tank when I used compressed air to try and clear it. Tha gas prices lately have got me wanting to park my gas guzzling daily driver. HELP, if you can. Thanks!,,,,BB

Will a '80 gas tank fit in it? If so, we might be able to sell you ours, since I'm not going to need it ever again, because I'm converting to propane
Sorry I forgot to hit the email notify. I found one locally at MAZ/MAX. Bunch of knowlegeable guys, that do nothing but Mazdas. It was $150, ad the inside of the tank is SPOTLESS! It didn't even smell like gas!? A big plus as I got doused by gas on my scalp when I was messing with it last year. If you've ever had 8 year old gas spilled on your scalp, I know your pain, lol. It's a little like sticking your head in an ant bed, only it goes on for hours. ,,,,BB
Thanks to judgeito! He located one for me on Sunday, but the shipping probably would have killed me....

Okay. That works. I can't say that I've had that happen to me. I was smart before I took my gas tank off, I grabbed a 3' long section of fuel line, then stuck it in a gas can, and turned the fuel pump on, and drained the gas tank, so I wouldn't have that happen to me.

Yah, that probably would have worked. I got the tank drained via a siphon while it was jacked pretty
far up in the air. I will know 20 years from now when it needs done again, lol. I took 15 and some change out of it last year, so it has probably dried up the other gallon I hope. I am getting the "go to the dealer" BS again while searching for parts. Here we go again, SIGH!! I wanted to drop a new sending unit in, but nobody has it. The nearest mazda dealer is about 20 miles away from me, in a neighborhood abound with idiots. I'd rather order it, lol!,,,,BB

I was changing my fuel filter once and got gas in my armpit. That burned pretty good...
OMG, I cannot imagine that, scalp was bad enough to never do it again, lol. I found wiper blades
at least. I also exchanged the oil filter I bought. I guess someone made their own sale price, by switching
a Mobil one filter into a Bosch box, cause I got the raw end of the deal. They exchanged without a receipt, so no big deal. I gave the 7 a SERIOUS bathing, and I don't feel so bad about the dings, etc..BB

Sheesh. dropped my tank, and it's different than the one they sold me. Mine has the individual lines
in various places, and the "new" one has the plate mounted type. I told them the year, so they should've known which one it was. Marked bigger than Dallas 1985 on the top of the tank. They neglected to include the plate with lines too, so I cannot install it yet either way. Yet another day behind, sigh!,,,,BB
