Has anyone ever successfully done a five lug conversion on the 1st gen. for the least amount of funds? I saw a 1st gen. on cardomain.com that had 3rd gen. five lug, five spoke wheels on it and it looked tough.

Why not just swap in SE brakes????They have bigger discs then non SE cars and are 4x114 which is a more common pattern.Or use mustang 4 bolt wheels if your car is non-SE.

Thanks for the feedback. Just trying to open up more wheel options. I read the thread on rustang wheels, but I would prefer for the wheels to fit like they are supposed too. I would like to run 16s and I have aspirations of a 20b swap for added gonads and would like the safety of knowing my wheels fit like the factory designed them too.

Just swap in the GSL-SE brakes with the bigger rotors and LSD.Theres lots of 4x114 wheels out the seeing as the 240 sx uses that pattern.Good luck on the swap!

the imsa racers in the 80's were using i think nissan 280z front struts, they are close to a bolt in, and a 9" in the rear. if you are serious about the 20b then it may not be a bad way to go

I knew that the nine inch would not be a cheap way to go, but it is probably going to be the best. Yes, my plans for the distant future do include a 20b. I also wasn't looking to get into adapters, since they take away from the wheel spacing that can be used. With adapters, my only option for wheels will be ones with no offset like a lot of front wheel drives require. I know that the swap can be done, because I have seen several now on the web that are five lug. It just may not be very cheap.
