Feels Like Crossing The Finish Line. Thanks!

First I d really like to say thanks, to everyone who had a comment and answered my posts and listened to me bitch about this 12a 6PI from hell.
I was as confused as everyone to find a 6port 12a in my engine compartment, but you guys helped me out with everything from history to troubleshooting. I almost sold him a couple of times. This is my fifth 1st gen and I have never had so much trouble.
So your probably wondering what the hell the problem was. well without further delay:
For those who werent there, here are the symtoms:
(Copied)
I just put two brand new coils on my 83 (that 6PI) thinking that would stop the hesitation and when I took it out it hesitates really bad at take off and at full pedal.
But get the pedal just right(somewhere in the middle) and it blasts off like a rocket.
The engine compartment stinks of gas fuming to the point that if I bend over the engine for a few minutes my shirt smells like gas. Not that you can because the fumes burn your eyes.
I have a clear, in line, fuel filter That I have yet to see fill all the way.
I have a brand new IN-LINE fuel pump that reads 2.5-4 psi.
I have a fairly good haze of blue/gray smoke out the tail pipe.
It doesnt backfire on acceleration or decelleration. And when I load it up it doesnt hesitate.
And I also suspect the secondaries, but only because I dont know how to adjust them and I have rebuilt this carburetor just recently.
Well this morning I got up early and went straight to my car. After cranking it up and getting it to temp, I checked the timing for the 98th time. Nothing.... Coils are new...Plugs are new.....Cap, Rotor, Fuel Filter, All new.
So I got pissed and pulled the Leading #1 plug wire off at the dizz cap. No change....Ah ha! I put it back on and pulled the Trailing #1. Tick, tick, tick tick...Ah ha! Then I pulled the Leading #2....No change....Ah ha! And just for fact, I pulled the Trailing #2. Tick, tick, tick, tick.
So. I went to the parts pile and pulled out all my good ignitors and replaced the Leading with a good one. BETTER but no cigar. But it needed it.
So after messin' with the timing a little more I thought about the trailing vacuum advance. So I pulled the dizz for the 98th time. I sucked with all my smoker might and got the advance to move just a little, then I tried the other vacuum advance and it moved easier. I went back to the parts pile and got a distributor and "sucked on it". It was a lot easier to move so I changed ignitors out and put in the other dizz. Again Much BETTER, But no cigar. But it needed it. So I gave in and decided It had to be the secondaries, or atleast something in the carb.
I have never,..... never rebuilt a carb and it work right (WHY??).
So I went to the Local Yard and pulled a carb off an 85 just for the hell of it( I have four or five but thats why I rebuilt one in the first place). I brought it home and, In the rain, Put it on the car hoping for the best. But when I turned the Ignition On, gas instantly started filling the carb up like a tea glass. I turned the ignition back off without trying to crank it and sat in thought for a minute. I banged on it once or twice and tried it again already knowing what I was about to have to do. No Dice. So I pulled the top off and checked the floats and instead of trying to free and clean a bunch of crap(I was in a hurry to see if this was going to work), I pulled the top off of my rebuilt carb and slapped it on the junkyard carb.......................
SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!
I tuned the air/fuel a little and turned the dizz as far counter clock wise as it would go(???) and listened to it PURRrrr. I took it to the Highway with every intention of getting you guys a 0-60 time but since it had just got finished raining, instead I pulled it out on the highway and spun wheels in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Didnt make it to 5th before I got to my turn around.
It runs GREAT now! Still a little hesitation when you slam the pedal down but I think thats the 5th and 6th valves opening( I wouldnt know since the only 13b I have ever driven belonged to my brother and it was an automatic stocker to the teeth), But Im going to pull the sleeves when I fix the cracked manifold bolt hole.
So there you go! I have done what sometimes seemed never to come. And it purrs like it used to....but after all the things I have removed trying to figure out what was wrong with it, it sure does NOT feel like the same car......WOW!!!
Thanks again guys!!!
