im having a problem with the back barrels on the carb. ok the problem is in 1st and second gear the back barrels open the as soon as i hit 3rd,4th,5th they do not open. can any one help me.

thats really wierd, its a very simple mechanism, you may want to get a new diaphram for it

when u say a new diaphram what do u mean? and one more thing its running very rich

it doesnt matter what gear you are in, the barrels open by what the gas pedal is doing....no matter what gear u are in. the back barrels should open when u press the gas, its connected with the front barrels. they all work as one, depending on how hard the gas is pressed.

Yeah something on the carb is toasted.Like mike said it might be a diaphram.

You need a manual.the haynes manual show the diaphram of it.

the secondaries are activated by huge vaccum from flooring the car, they are opened by a diaphram that is just below the passenger side of carb. most folks are just wiring up their linkages so they operate without the diaphram. do a search for mechanical secondaries here or in the www rx7 club dot com 1st generation.

see i didnt know that some came vaccum controled, mine came mechanical stock
