how thick should an ACV block off plate be? I made mine out of aluminum about 1/16" thick. It works fine. The thing is it sounds like a fart-can exhaust on a honda. The plate pulsates loudly to the airflow in the intake manifold. I'm also worried with it vibrating like that it will weaken and break the seal. So how thick is your ACV block off plate? and where did you get the materials from?

 

Mine was 1/4''.



I made one on my TII that was about 1/8" thick out of some old scrap sheet metal. It worked fine.



Edit- on the 12A when I still had the stock intake it was 1/4". I think it was from Mazdatrix or Racing Beat. Same thing.

 

Yeah. Mine came with the header, its about 1/4" thick .

Made one from sheet metal. Sealed it with gasket maker. Been working fine...

It's part of the emissions system.when you pull the smog pump you either plug the lines to the acv or block it off for a cleaner look.It's attached to your intake manifold and supllies the air hose to your exhaust with fresh air.The smog pump takes power away from the engine because it runs off the belt so you pull it to free up that wasted power if you don't have emssions tests.
