i took my gsl to s smog shop to get it to smog and they said i had a thermal reactor. theres no way for a thermal reactor to go bad right? the owner called me and told me it needed a thermal reactor and i told him i couldnt afford to have him fix it and he called back about a minute later and said he adjusted the carb and it passed. im pretty sure he was tryen to take me for a ride. i think the cats may need replaced but im not sure. also the car acts like it has a bad secondary diaphram. would that affect my emmisions? i think i should get a second opinion where should i take it? what do you guys think/have to say about all this? the the car is imaculate and only has 74,000miles on it. thank you and pardon me for my ignorance. every one i know refuse to touch rotary so i'm learning.

thing is i want to sell it. i want to be able to do what ever i want to my rotary. so im gona fix it and off it. i dont know it might pass and the guys i took it to are probably tryen to screw me over. i spent way to much on my 79 getting it to pass so they probably see me for a sucker and want more.

the guys at the shop said they adjusted it and then adjusted it back. so basically they adjusted the car to make it pass which made it run rough at idle and then adjusted it back to run fine after the smog was done. im kinda paranoid and am thinken that if things where bad then they arnt going to have gotten any better.

i guess i really should just take it to another smog place so i know weather or not the first guy was telling the truth or not. i'll keep you posted. thanks.

My guess is that they leaned out the fuel mixture and then richened it back up. BTW congrats on passing and FB had catalytic converters. SA's had thermal reactors
