Hey All ~
I have 2 questions:
1. I think I remember reading somewhere that if I drill holes in the emulsion tubes, it will lean out the mixture. I just want someone that knows what they're doing to explain that concept if it's true. I'm not very well-versed in terms of carb knowledge, so please feel free to speak like you're speaking to a child.
I'm having problems with my mixture (it's way too RICH!) and I'm planning to get some larger air jets, but in the event that they don't do what I want, then I'm thinking my next step is drilling the emulsion tubes.
Here's what I've got ...
2. Aside from playing with the air jets, how else can I lean things out? I'm not too keen on swapping venturis, but I'd consider it.

well, okay ... this is what i've found out so far:
drilling the emulsion tubes will lean things out. no one has explained to me why, but knowing what the emulsion tubes are for, i'm going to guess that it just provides an opportunity for more air to enter when being mixed.
you might say that the question was dumb, but the reason i was (am) unsure is because when i looked through the fuel jet end of the tube, it didn't seem to be open to the emulsion chamber (the long, middle part). i figured they would have to be open to each other in order to mix ... oh well. maybe someone will explain it someday.
as for playing with the air jets, i found out that SMALLER fuel jets lean out the lower to middle RPM ranges, while LARGER air jets lean out the middle to upper RPM ranges.
so ... with this in mind, i think i'll hold off on drilling the tubes for now and just until my air jets get here.
