1st Gen And 2nd Gen Tranny Question

Are the 84-85 Gsl-se 13b trannys the same as a 86-88 ones? Or are they the same as the 12a tranny I say this becuase a I'm thinking about getting Gsl-se 13b with a bad tranny and i can get 86-88 tranny for nothing.

The FC and FB trannies are pretty much the same, except the FC tranny has a vent in the bellhousing, and the extension housings are different. They also have different gear ratios. The FC's usually have real tall 5th gears.

What about the tranny mount? Doesnt the 2nd gen transmission sit further back than the 1st gen?

Just use the tail of the GSL-SE tranny and things should be fine.
