This thread needs to be moved to the 1st gen section as this subforum is about engine failures and causes.

If you've got the ability to move it, go for it. Otherwise, I suggest reposting it in the 1st gen section.

Thanks,

basically on the carb there is just an idle mixture adjustment. if you've got new cats, its usually cleanest a little rich of best idle.

also the air pump and air control valve need to work.

Move to Ohio. No emissions controls.

Anyways, replace the fuel pump. Then see how things burn out the back end. You might be pretty right on as far as emissions goes.

Huh?

I don't need emissions controls. Ohio no longer has any smog/emissions regulations.

Start with a complete tune-up, then work systematically to find the problem.

I'm a newbie to rotaries, but when I bought a Random Technology cat for my old Jeep, the guy grilled me about how well I had the mixture set, and that I made sure it would not run too rich. The excess gas and heat will burn out a cat in no time. I know zilch about carbs, but the richness factor may be something to keep in mind

Of course here in Cali everything is about smog.

Good luck.
